The Violet VoxBox

A year ago I signed up for Influenster, an online community of product reviewers. In return for reviews, participants can, when qualified, receive a themed box (called a voxbox) of new goodies to try out. For Free! This is the third program I have qualified for and I can’t wait to show you what I received. Did I mention it’s free? As a frugalista, how much better can it get?!
Here’s the box, The Violet VoxBox, in all it’s purple-y glory:
(please forgive my pictures, they’re from my phone. I know! I don’t deserve to attempt a blog without a decent camera.. well.. anyway..  we’ll have to bare it..)

Inside this box of awesome I received four products for testing purposes from GoodySally Hansen, & SoyJoy.

The first thing I picked up was the SoyJoy Baked Whole Soy and Fruit Bar($0.99). Cranberry. Yes, please! I had never tried one of these bars before and dug right in after slaaaaving away on my Christmas tree. Have you ever put an artificial tree together, limb by limb?? Fanning, poking, shouting. It’s boats of fun. I had preconceived thoughts that SoyJoy sounded mushy, wet, and like tofu. Boy, was I wrong! It’s firm, a little dry, and full of flavor! At 140 calories, I wish it was a little bigger, but I would definitely buy more.

(SEE! Christmas tree, blue and gold, fanned to perfection.)

Next I picked up the largest item, the Goody QuikStyle brush ($12.99). At first, my mind said…” huh? “. A brush that dries my wet hair as I use it? Might as well give it a try! While my hair didn’t go from sopping wet to dry as a bone, I did notice a slight difference. Would I buy it if I lost this one? No. It ain’t no miracle worker. But I am happy that I now have a paddle brush to tame my snarls.
**Other participants received a dry shampoo and face mask as opposed to my Goody brush, and I’m happy I received the brush. I’m not a dry shampoo person (how does it work? I end up looking greasier..) and I self tan my face, I don’t need a mask pulling it off!**

Also from Goody, I received an adjustable (velcro) headband, Athletique Adjustable Yoga Wicking Headband ($6.00), that claims to wick away moisture as you sweat. Well, once I get off my ass, I’ll let you know how it works. For now, I’ll use it as a fashion statement.. in my yoga pants.. in my house.. on my couch.

Lastly, a shining, shimmering bottle of Sally Hansen Triple Shine ($4.99) in Make Waves. It’s a mermaid-like color that does indeed shine. No top coat needed. The brush is very wide, making application a breeze. I do wish I had received a more neutral color. But hey, free is free. A good toenail color, perhaps?

* I’m so glad I found Influenster and get the opportunity to try out new products from companies. Sign up and wait for your invite, or ask me for an invite! Sign up is free! *

- I definitely like that..
